Wall mounted work bench

The wall mounted workbenches are ideal for tight spaces and worth positioning on wall so that others might benefit from its handy work. The wall mounted workbenches are used when there is not enough space in a room. The wall mounted work bench is not as same as regular workbench. As regular work bench has standing legs where as wall mounted workbench doesn’t have legs instead they have supports which are mounted on the wall. It can be used for studying and ironing.

The mounting

The wall mounted workbench consists of support legs and the top shelf. The support legs are upright in position, that is fixed to wall and are immovable. The top shelf consists of two pieces, one at end of the shelf and other along one edge of the shelf. The lower shelves are also constructed of two pieces and are same as top shelf. The workbench has moving braces that supports the top shelf. Apart from the top shelf and the support legs, moving parts are made up of metal. The materials used are wooden for the top surface, and then the width and the thickness will be more or less variant. A catch hook is there to hold the top shelf in place when it is in raised position. Wire cable or chain to hold the top shelf in place when it is in the lowered positions, and that is necessary door wall fixing with assorted nails.

The fixing of the upright members will need to be fixed securely to the wall with appropriate screws and anchors. In a standard lumbar frame wall the upright members should be fixed directly to wall to a vertical stud or horizontal block within the frame.

Points to remember

The distance between the holes in the moving braces and the fixing points on the top shelf and upright is most important. A little bit of error might be needed while determining the measurements to ensure the top shelf in level, in raised or in lowered positions. The length of the wire cable should be long enough to ensure that the top shelf is held firmly in position and when it is in lowered position.
