It has been said that music is the universal language and that it soothes the savage beast. This statement can be endorsed by many as they will hear a song, a tune or tone that will help them to remember a special time, place, or event. These musical notes can help to center and focus individuals in times of stress and duress.

One such powerful and yet simple device that can help with this process are tuned wind chimes. If wishing to add this musical touchstone to one's life it is important to know what a tuned wind chime is, sounds this creation can reflect and what simulated tones they can imitate.

What Are Tuned Wind Chimes

Tuned wind chimes are wind chimes that are typically constructed from aluminum. These tubes of aluminum are at varying lengths in order for different tones to sound when moved by the wind. Typically, the aluminum piping is connected to a holding bar and in turn the holding bar is connected to a material that allows for the tuned wind chimes to be hung.

The other important element of the wind shine is the striker bar. The striker bar is often situated between all of the aluminum pipes and when moved by the wind it strikes against the individual chime which produces the unique tone.

The distinctiveness of tuned wind chimes is that each of the individual chimes is constructed accordingly so that each chime is tuned to specific musical notes of the musical scale. In addition, tuned wind chimes can capture specific musical notes and therefore chords. For example the tuned wind chime can be in the Key of C, D, C sharp, etc. Having the wind chimes tuned in different keys simply allows for the blending of unique sounds and tones which creates the musical chord.

Simulated Tones

One additional feature of tuned wind chimes is that these devices can simulate certain recognizable tones. These tones are released when the wind or motion catches the striker mechanism which in turn moves against the chimes.

For example, aluminum tubing that is part of the tuned wind chime can simulate the sound of church bells. This specific imitated tone is accomplished as the cylindrical aluminum tubes are created in greater length and diameter. Other simulated tones include the glasslike sounds of smaller chimes that sound like tinkling glass.

In addition, individuals often use tuned wind chimes to call them to a deeper spiritual discipline. To aid in this discipline there are some tuned wind chimes on the market that claim to be tuned to the tones emitted from the Chakras of the human body. In marketing the Chakra tuned wind chime it is stated that each time the tone from the chime a tone is transmitted to the specific Chakra located in the human body.
