Movado Clock

Movado started in Switzerland around 1881 when Achilles Ditesheim, a teenage entrepreneur (he was only 19) hired half a dozen watchmakers and began a workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The name selected was Movado; meaning always in motion and soon the company came to be connected with innovation in time technology – willing efforts and teamwork of the originator and employees helping Movado live up to its name.

The clock makers and marketers at Movado Clock Company began to experiment with new ideas and technological breakthroughs to constantly upgrade and innovate the existing ideas that the public had about timepieces. Their hard work bore fruit with time and Movado came to associated with artists like Warhol and Britto and close to about 98 patents for breakthrough ideas in superior timekeeping devices with the respect earned from over 200 international awards for creativity. Movado watches in 20 museums worldwide are proof of the fame these unique and quality-conscious timepieces have been associated with. The Movado – always in motion – tag has evidently been a prophetic one for the company; committed, as it is to design innovation and time technology since its inception. Today, Movado clocks have 101 patents and watches in the permanent collections of antique dealers, watch connoisseurs and quality conscious buyers worldwide.

The Four Sided Desk Clock is sculptured and uniquely designed by Movado, which offers an executive presence with superior functionality in any setting. It boasts of a rotating aluminum featuring four separate functions: a museum dial clock, a Hygrometer, a Thermometer and a Photo Frame. There are optional engraving plates available for the top or photo frame slot too and it works on batteries. The Movado Crystal Ellipse is also very popular and so the company was further inspired to create an enhanced design feature to this model; thus, it introduced the Black Dial Large Crystal Ellipse Desk Clock with gold tone accents- a handsome handcrafted sculptor in 24% lead crystal. The Movado Rotunda Clock with Black Dial Crystal has a graphite dial and gold tones and also sculpted in lead crystal. Other popular styles for Movado clocks include Movado (Large or Small) Mineral Glass Plaque Clock with or without the Engraving Plate. This has a black dial with silver tone accents and the clock is mounted in beveled mineral glass.
