One of the most common uses of backyards is to have a kitchen garden in place. In fact, it has become a tradition to have a kitchen garden in the backyard. Many find it a very outdated style of decorating their backyards. However, a kitchen garden is one of the easiest ways of enhancing the backyards and one of the most useful ways too.

There are several ways in which a kitchen garden can adorn a backyard. If the backyard is small then a tiny kitchen garden is just perfect. A bigger backyard provides scope for the owner to try out a few experiments. A kitchen garden mainly consists of vegetable and fruit plants. Hence, the owner has the advantage of using these plants as a source to seek fresh vegetables and fruits even if they are on a small scale. Hence, there are several advantages associated with kitchen gardens. They not only make the backyard look very attractive but also ensure that the owner has a tiny private vegetable and fruit farm. Another advantage of the kitchen garden is that the plants included are normally not very big and do not occupy too much space in the backyard.

There are many plants that can be planted as a part of the backyard kitchen garden. Vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, brinjals, capsicum, beans and several other vegetable plants as a part of the kitchen garden in the backyard. A very important part of the kitchen garden can be the spice plants or creepers. Spices like peppers, basil, chillies, coriander etc are some of the most important and the most used spices. The creepers also add to the aesthetic beauty of the backyard. Even lemon bush can be a part of the backyard kitchen garden. The reason why kitchen garden is a good option for the backyard is because it controls the spread of unwanted weeds and shrubs.

There is a unique pleasure in eating the fruits and vegetables produced from the kitchen garden. It is a great way to literally enjoy the fruits of own hard work. Hence, a kitchen garden in the backyard is definitely an option to go for.
