Adventures In Bubbles: Our Inflatable Hot Tub
"Have your hot tub fun, anytime anywhere! Buy an inflatable hot tub!"
This is the advertisement we read in the local newspaper. "Buy your inflatable hot tub now and experience relaxation anywhere you go!" Sounds good doesn't it? Having the ability to relax anywhere anytime with the delicious heat of a hot tub. But what's the catch? Nothing this good comes without a downside.
Well, here is a story about such a down side.
Camping In Style
My husband and I were so thrilled with the idea that we could go camping and bring a hot tub along with us. We went out purchased an inflatable hot tub and its accessories, packed up our pop-up camping trailer, hitched it to our Olds Bravada, and headed to the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California.
Once we arrived, after a 4 hour drive out of the city, we unpacked our gear, popped-up our camping trailer, dragged out our inflatable hot tub and began to set it up. Once my husband was able to convince me that I was only in the way, the set-up took went quicker and before dusk our inflatable hot tub was hooked up and ready. We were so excited.
That night, my husband and I spent some quality time just relaxing in the 104 degree water of our inflatable hot tub. The vibrations of the massage feature were so welcomed after a long day. Finally we snuffed out the dying embers of the campfire, climbed into the king-sized bed of our camper, and went to sleep. What greeted us as we awoke the next morning was almost too funny to take.
Beary Funny Hot Tub Tales
My husband saw it first. He went outside to start the fire and came upon a bear cub splashing around in the now tepid water of our inflatable hot tub. Of course by this time, most of the water in the tub was gone. The little cub not only found his way into our hot tub, he must have bitten a nice sized hole in the side. Water was leaking out.
We took a nice long walk, not just to get the funnies out of our system, but to also give the bear cub some time to escape without its momma coming and doing something about the pesky humans.
Well, at least we had one evening to enjoy our now deflated once-inflated hot tub. Next year, we'll have to pick a bear free spot to go camping, or we can just stay home.
